REBOUND THERAPY!

What is it?

The use of trampolines in providing opportunities for movement, therapeutic exercise and recreation for people across the whole spectrum of special needs.

Who is it for?

Any kiddo/ teen with a physical and or cognitive disability.

-Wheelchair bound

-Gait aids users (walkers, crutches, canes)

-Those who are walking independently

-Those who are unable to walk or stand

-Those who are unable to sit up independently

Is it Physiotherapy?

NO

Rebound therapy is not physiotherapy.

However, a trampoline can be used as a physiotherapy tool to meet specific gross motor goals. Ask your child’s Kiddo Physio physiotherapist if they believe using a trampoline as part of their physiotherapy sessions would be beneficial to them.

Can everyone participate In Rebound Therapy?

There are a few conditions that have been deemed unsafe and those with these conditions are unfortunately ineligible.

-Detaching retina

-Confirmed atlanto-axial instability (some Doctors are allowing paitents to participate on a case-by-case basis)

-Rodded back

-Brittle bone disease (osteogenisis imperfect)

-Dwarfism 

What does a session look like?

it is a 30 minute one-on-one session with a trained Rebound Therapy practitioner who is also a Gymnastics Ontario trained trampoline coach. The session contents will be based on an individualized plan to that accommodates each participants physical and cognitive abilities while working towards their and their families goals. Our main goals are always safety and fun!
